So, how's he doing? As Wyle tells us in voiceover, as much as Dr. Robby was ready for a hard first day, this one might take the cake. As for the rest of his Pitt compatriots? Well, it's just another day in the E.R. for them (read: tough). Such is life on the night shift at one of TV 's most indelible workplaces. Wyle told us earlier this month how he sees this season fitting in with the previous two, especially as it applies to his character's journey. "I describe Season 1 as 'the doctor is the patient,'" Wyle told Anne Thompson during a recent interview. "He just doesn't know that he's the patient yet. And Season 2 is 'doctors don't make very good patients,' and Season 3 is going to be 'doctors benefit from being patients.' Hopefully what we're mapping out in the context of a hospital show is a mental health journey with one guy who was about as close to his breaking point as you can be as a human being, and hopefully as he climbs out of his proverbial pit, we watch a methodology in a prescriptive road for other people who might have a vested interest in seeking mental health as well."
And, as creator R. Scott Gemmill told us earlier this year , Season 3 will continue to hinge on "medical cases [that] are usually chosen to reflect something either that's going on in the characters' lives or to challenge them, to see a flaw."
We also know this season will be set in mid-November, all the better to capitalize on cold-weather accidents, holiday stresses, and much more. As always, it will tick through a single shift for our Pitt faithful.
The Season 3 cast includes: Noah Wyle (Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch), Patrick Ball (Dr. Langdon), Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans), Fiona Dourif (Dr. McKay), Taylor Dearden (Dr. King), Isa Briones (Dr. Santos), Gerran Howell (Dr. Whitaker), Shabana Azeez (Javadi), Ayesha Harris (Dr. Ellis), Sepideh Moafi (Dr. Al-Hashimi), and Shawn Hatosy (Dr. Abbot).
