See the full story · 6 sourcesOfficial: Arsenal miss out as Real Madrid announce Vinícius Jr. deal
La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Thursday at long last confirmed the future of attacking talisman Vinícius Jr. in Spain’s capital. This comes courtesy of an announcement that the Brazilian has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract.
Wide-man Vinícius has of course dominated the headlines across all of Europe for several weeks now. Ahead of the expiration of his previous Real Madrid deal in 12 months’ time, Premier League champions Arsenal kicked into gear an all-out assault on the 26-year-old’s signature.
The brass at the Santiago Bernabéu, understandably eager not to lose such a key player, therefore scheduled a fresh round of talks with ‘Viní’ and his entourage this week.
From here, it was widely reported that Los Blancos had improved the financial details of their proposal.
And as alluded to above, on Thursday, these efforts have officially borne fruit for club and player alike. As per a statement released across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:
‘Real Madrid C. F. and Vinicius Jr. have agreed on the extension of our player’s contract, which links him to the club until June 30, 2032.’
