With a long camp looming, sophomore undrafted free agent quarterback Brady Cook is firmly on the team's roster bubble.
The Jets reunited with veteran Geno Smith earlier this offseason to be a stopgap starter. General manager Darren Mougey also drafted former Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik with a fourth-round pick during the 2026 NFL draft .
The Jets may not have to carry more than those two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, as they're the only ones actually expected to play this season.
Cook was unfortunately forced to play for the Jets as a rookie before he was ready. The former Missouri standout struggled in 2025, throwing for two touchdowns and seven interceptions while appearing in five games. Cook completed just 57.5% of his passing attempts, threw for 739 yards, and averaged a lackluster 4.9 yards per attempt.
Cook did not perform like an NFL-caliber quarterback. He'll be tasked with proving he's grown and developed this offseason while competing for the QB3 role with veteran Bailey Zappe .
Cook enters camp likelier to wind up on the practice squad as opposed to the Jets' final 53-man roster.
