Greene will miss the remainder of the 2026 MLB season and likely all of next season with a 12- to 18-month recovery period after the procedure. This is the second Tommy John surgery for Greene, who also underwent a reconstructive elbow procedure in 2018.
The 26-year-old was limited to only five starts this season after having arthroscopic surgery on his elbow in March to remove bone chips. He returned to the Reds’ rotation in July, allowing 21 earned runs and 29 hits in 27 2/3 innings (6.83 ERA) with 33 strikeouts.
