Jalen Ramsey injured at Steelers minicamp, sidelined to begin training camp
Some unfortunate news from the Pittsburgh Steelers to kick off their first day of training camp, as it was announced that veteran defensive back Jalen Ramsey sustained an injury at the team’s mandatory minicamp.
Steelers’ general manager Omar Khan disclosed to the media that the star cornerback suffered a knee injury, and the team is now preparing to be without Ramsey for several weeks.

Ramsey, who was traded to the Steelers from the Miami Dolphins in the 2025 summer, started all 17 games for Pittsburgh last season, logging 88 total tackles, three sacks, and an interception.
Now with 10 seasons in the NFL under his belt, Ramsey is expected to have another big role for the Steelers’ defense in 2026, especially after the veteran proved to have a smooth transition from cornerback to safety in the middle of last season.
While Ramsey’s CB1 days are essentially behind him, being the team’s leader for the defensive back group is still a crucial role for a defense, specifically for a team like Pittsburgh, which has a plethora of young talent at cornerback and safety.

Expected Return
On a positive note for Pittsburgh, GM Omar Khan told the media that the team expects Ramsey to be back in time for Week 1 of the NFL season.
“It isn’t something where we don’t anticipate him being ready for the season,” stated Khan.
He’d also tell the media he expects Ramsey to be out for only a “ couple of weeks, ” providing great news for Steelers fans who might have expected the veteran defensive back to be out longer.
