From there, they then landed Baker Mayfield with a chip on his shoulder that has played the best years of his career in Tampa Bay.
Now, as Mayfield is entering the final year of his contract, it appears he will be playing the 2026 season without a new deal. He had previously set a deadline of getting a deal done before training camp, but now that time has passed.

However, if Mayfield does not bounce back in a big way then things may get dicey in Tampa Bay.
