The Cincinnati Bengals have big plans for a key roster battle during Saturday’s preseason game against the Chicago Bears.
Said plans deal with fan favorite breakout wide receiver Dohnte Meyers.
According to WLWT’s Charlie Clifford , the Bengals “want to see more of” Meyers as a returner during the game against the Bears.
Makes sense: Meyers has been a breakout story of Bengals training camp. He’s even got the public approval of Ja’Marr Chase .
To make one of the deepest wideout cores in the NFL, though, Meyers will need to show something in the return game. He’s battling Charlie Jones and Ke’Shawn Williams. Jones has been around for a while, while Williams is a specialist they claimed on waivers last year.
Meyers has a very real shot to contribute in the base offense, if needed, but those fifth and sixth wideout spots on the depth chart demand more.
In other words, Meyers might be able to punch his final 53-man roster ticket about a week early.
