USA TODAY Sports Super 15 Southwest region football rankings, Week 3
The high school football season in the southwest officially got going last week as Oklahoma and Texas officially joined the fray.
Both states were featured heavily into the region's preseason rankings going into the year and also had their fair share of marquee matchups to open the season. One matchup in particular pit a top program from each state against each other and produced arguably one of the most exciting games of the week.

1. Waxahachie (TX)
Record: 1-0
Any questions regarding Waxahachie's status as a top team in Texas entering the year were quickly squashed as they opened the season with a 72-14 win over Ennis (TX) . Junior quarterback Jerry Meyer III threw for 400 yards and six touchdowns, connecting with Jashawn Crayton seven times for 187 yards and three touchdowns.

2. Allen (TX)
Record: 1-0
Rising sophomore quarterback Ty Snell led the Eagles on multiple scoring drives to complement a defensive performance that led to Allen beating Duncanville (TX) 26-7 . Allen scored twice in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

3. North Shore (TX)
Record: 1-0
At home against Lancaster (TX), the Mustangs' defense was dominant, and they leaned on a powerful rushing attack to kick off the season with a 35-0 victory. As a team, they rushed for 287 yards and four touchdowns on 40 carries.
Next game: Friday, Sept. 4, at John Curtis Christian (LA) 7 p.m. CT
4. North Crowley (Fort Worth, TX)
Record: 1-0
The Panthers scored 26 first-half points and pitched a shutout as they opened their season with a 26-0 home win over Aledo (TX). North Crowley's rush defense was potent as they held the Aledo rush attack to negative seven yards on the ground.
Next game: Friday, Sept. 4, vs. Southlake Carroll (TX), 7 p.m.
5. Duncanville (TX)
Record: 0-1
Former star and current Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell may have predicted a blowout win for the Panthers , but that was not meant to be. Their defense kept the game within striking distance, but the offense struggled to find any momentum in the 19-point loss to Allen (TX).

6. C.E. King (Houston, TX)
Record: 1-0
King scored 14 or more points in all four quarters of its 70-10 win over Conroe (TX). Khylan Davis threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns and was complimented by a ground game for the Panthers that rushed for 327 yards and seven touchdowns.

7. Bixby (OK)
Record: 1-0
In a rematch of last year's Class 6A championship against Owasso (OK), the Spartans once again picked up the win, but it was much closer this time as they left town with a 35-27 win. They relied on their ground game, rushing for 445 yards and three touchdowns on 64 carries. Isaiah Butcher IV ran for 182 yards and three touchdowns to lead the charge.

8. DeSoto (TX)
Record: 0-1
The Eagles made the long trek to Florida for a highly anticipated showdown with nationally ranked St. Thomas Aquinas (FL). They would leave the Sunshine State with more questions than answers as they opened the season with a 38-14 loss.

9. Randle (Richmond, TX)
Record: 1-0
Texas five-star running back commit and ALL-USA national preseason first team selection Landen Williams-Callis stole the show for the Lions in their rematch of last year's championship meeting with South Oak Cliff (TX). The future Longhorn carried the ball 33 times for 230 yards and two touchdowns in a 20-14 win.
Next game: Thursday, Sept. 3, vs. Westfield (TX), 7:30 p.m. CT
10. South Oak Cliff (Dallas, TX)
Record: 0-1
The Golden Bears struggled to get much going offensively in their season-opening loss to Randle. They finished the game with 92 passing yards and only 53 yards on the ground.
Next game: Saturday, Sept. 12, vs. North Shore (TX), 7 p.m. CT
11. Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village, CO)
Record: 1-0
The Bruins were off last week. This week they'll square off with a Ralston Valley (CO) team that opened the season with a 31-0 win over Castle View (CO).
Next game: Friday, Sept. 4, vs. Ralston Valley, 7 p.m. MT
12. Southlake Carroll (TX)
Record: 1-0
Down by 20 at one point in the first half, the Dragons pulled off an improbable comeback as they rallied to beat Jenks (OK) 34-33 in the high school version of the Red River Rivalry. Illinois receiver commit Brody Knowles was unguardable in the game catching seven passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

13. Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, CO)
Record: 2-0
Led by 296 yards and three touchdowns through the air from Titus Huard, the Eagles rolled past Faith Lutheran (NV) 46-9. Huard's favorite target was Jackson Coleman as the duo connected seven times for 194 yards and three touchdowns.

14. Carl Albert (Midwest City, OK)
Record: 1-0
The Titans withstood a 21-point third quarter outburst from Newcastle (OK) to start off the season with a 31-21 victory. Montre McGlugritch was dominant in the win catching five passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns.

15. Owasso (OK)
Record: 0-1
Even in a loss, one of the nation's best 2028 prospects shined for Owasso in their season-opening loss to Bixby (OK). Kamieon Compton-Nero scored twice in the game while senior Jaymian Compton led the Rams with 127 receiving yards.
Next game: Thursday, Sept. 3, vs. Wynnewood, 7 p.m. CT
