As the renovations at Jake Sweeney Automotive Stadium and Pat Mancuso Field continue, Princeton High School has announced an anticipated date of completion for the $22 million project.
Athletic director Joe Roberts said that, after meeting with the construction team and the Princeton City School District Board of Directors, the school plans to open the stadium with the Vikings' homecoming football game against Mason on Oct. 2, 2026.
"We know our students, families, alumni, and community have been eagerly anticipating the return to our renovated stadium. While this is certainly disappointing, our priority is ensuring the project is completed the right way. We appreciate our community's patience and understanding as we work through these final steps to deliver a first-class facility that will serve Princeton students for generations. We plan to have a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, September 26, 2026, as part of the planned Homecoming kick-off festivities," Roberts said in a statement.
On Sept. 30, Princeton will hold its homecoming parade, finishing with a pep rally inside the stadium.
On Aug. 3, it was announced that the Vikings would face Moeller at Paycor Stadium in the renewed "King of the Block" rivalry. With Princeton set to play three more home games before the stadium opens, Roberts announced those have been moved to Lockland's Roettger Stadium, where Princeton played its home games in 2025.
Alternate sites are in the process of being secured for the boys and girls soccer and middle school football programs.
