Tennessee practiced for a seventh time during fall training camp on Friday. Junior defensive back Edrees Farooq suffered a leg injury in practice, according to Adam Sparks of the Knoxville News Sentinel .
Farooq was also transported to UT Medical Center.
The 6-foot, 202-pound safety appeared in 26 games, including 13 starts, for the Vols from 2024-25. He has totaled 89 tackles, one tackle for a loss, two interceptions, five pass deflections, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery during his collegiate career.
Farooq returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown at Kentucky on Oct. 25, 2025. His career high for tackles in a game is 10 against Oklahoma on Nov. 1, 2025.
The third-year defensive back is from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland. He committed to the Vols over Penn State , Ohio State , West Virginia and Michigan .
Farooq enrolled early at Tennessee in Jan. 2023 and participated in Citrus Bowl practices. He participated in the 2024 Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando, Florida after the Citrus Bowl.
