It's Week 1 of the 2026 Iowa high school football season , and IHSAA six teams from the Ames area are gearing up for their season opener.
Ames, Ballard, Nevada, Roland-Story and Colo-NESCO all open the season at home on Aug. 28. Gilbert will play its first game on the road.
Collins-Maxwell opened the season with a 56-0 Week 0 loss at North Union. The Spartans will look to get back on track on Aug. 28 during its home opener against rival Baxter.
Here is what is in store for Week 6 of high school football games in the Ames area.
Ames-area Iowa high school football schedule, Week 1
Ames vs. Marshalltown, 7 p.m. at the Ames High Football Stadium in Ames
Carroll vs. Gilbert, 7 p.m. at the Carroll Athletic Stadium in Carroll
Ballard vs. Pella, 7 p.m. at Rich Strouse Field in Huxley
Nevada vs. Grinnell, 7:30 p.m. at Cub Stadium in Nevada
Roland-Story vs. Pella Christian, 7 p.m. at Kerry Van Winkle Field in Story City
Collins-Maxwell vs. Baxter, 7 p.m. at Collins-Maxwell High School in Collins
Colo-NESCO vs. Belle Plaine, 7 p.m. at the Colo-NESCO Jr./Sr. High School Field
