After leading the Atlanta Dream by 12 points at the end of the third quarter, Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings suffered a surprising fourth-quarter letdown.
With Dallas leading by four points with just 18.7 seconds remaining in the game, Atlanta's Allisha Gray was fouled on a 3-point attempt. After reviewing the play, referees upgraded it to a Flagrant Foul 1 due to the Wings' Arike Ogunbowale moving her foot under Gray's landing area.
Gray hit all three free throws and then sank what became the game-winner to give the Dream an 82-81 win on the road. After the loss, Bueckers spoke at a Wings postgame media session about what she could've done to potentially help her team win.
"I gave it up to [Jessica Shepard]. I was looking to get it back. I'm confident in her to make a play, too. I trust my teammates. I definitely coulda kept it and went to the rim to try to create something in the paint," she said, adding, "I think I shoulda kept it and tried to create, but playing with Jess, pitch and catch has been very efficient, too."

She called it a "tough final possession" for the Wings, who fell to 18-10 with the loss, but remain in the playoff chase with 16 games left in their regular season.
It was a rough outing for Bueckers. Following her appearance in the WNBA All-Star Game, she only scored 16 points for her team. The Wings received a team-high 24 points from Ogunbowale and 20 points from Azzi Fudd. Shepard finished with a league-leading 19th double-double performance after scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
On the opposing side, Gray finished with 25 points to lead the Dream, who also received 22 points and 12 rebounds from Angel Reese. After the game, Reese joked about winning a friendly bet between her and Bueckers, saying she'd be requesting her "Apple Pay" from the Wings star.
This season, Bueckers is averaging better numbers than in her rookie year, scoring 20.7 points per game and shooting 51.4% on field goals. She's also dishing out 6.2 assists and grabbing 4.2 rebounds per game for a Wings team that is seeing a vast improvement over last year's dismal record.
After losing to Atlanta, Dallas will try to get back on track when they play again on Friday night when they visit the Washington Mystics, in a showdown with another potential WNBA playoff team.
