They included everything from Boston's ownership not wanting to pay the bill coming on Brown's extension to Brown being analytically not as good as his raw numbers suggest.
What seemed to be by far one of the wildest rumors at the time was that Boston wanted Brown gone because he thinks he's the smartest guy in every room , as reported by Colin Cowherd, who called the condition a "disease." Today, after hearing what Jayson Tatum had to say to a group of camp kids, it seems that report might not be so out of left field.
"Being around somebody that feel like they know it all, I don't want to be around that person," Tatum said in a clip posted to his Instagram story . "I don't want to be the smartest person in the room. I want to learn from somebody else."

— Legion Hoops (@LegionHoops) July 25, 2026 In a vacuum, Tatum's message was a good one to deliver to a bunch of young people. But considering everything that's been said about Brown, was this also Tatum's way of adding fuel to the fire?
We can't know for sure, but I'm inclined to believe this was absolutely a veiled shot at his old teammate. There's no way Tatum wasn't aware of how his message would be received.
