While both baseball and women's basketball have worn gold jerseys recently, it has been a while for football. According to the Vanderbilt Uni Tracker, the Commodores last wore gold jerseys in 2020.
In 2025, Vanderbilt utilized four different jerseys: white with black numbers, white with gold numbers, black with white numbers and black with gold numbers. They also had three different helmets — black matte, gold and white — and paired all their jerseys with black or white pants.
The Commodores had largely utilized the same uniform combinations since 2024 . In 2023, Vanderbilt used the white jersey with black numbers, black with white numbers and black with gold numbers, and the Commodores also wore gold pants that season.
The program, along with several players, teased the addition of the new jerseys Aug. 4.
Vanderbilt opens its season Sept. 5 against Austin Peay (6 p.m. CT, SEC Network+).
