Juan Soto Confident He'll Return From Calf Injury This Season

New York Mets superstar Juan Soto is back on the injured list for the second time this season. He is dealing with a left calf strain that is reportedly more severe than the right calf strain that sidelined him for nearly three weeks in April.
Soto is expected to be out for at least four to six weeks. He is projected to be healthy sometime in late August or September.
With the Mets sitting in last place in the National League West and second-worst record in the NL, New York has to decide whether it is worth reactivating Soto before the end of the season.
Soto said he certainly plans to return this season.
"Yeah, a hundred percent," Soto said on Monday when asked if expects to return in 2026.
Mets interim manager Andy Green also believes Soto will return before the end of the season.
“We want to get to the other side of the injury risk, right?” interim manager Andy Green said on Monday. “You want to get him completely healthy before you even engage in that conversation. We think the timelines line up that there’s enough of a season left that it’s worthwhile to get one of your best players back on the field and go win baseball games.”
Soto has multiple weeks of recovery up ahead but the five-time All-Star said he is evaluating his health on a day-to-day basis.
“We’re just taking it week by week, day by day,” Soto said. “We’re trying to see how I feel. Definitely, I’m young enough to recover quick, so we don’t know how I’m gonna feel tomorrow, the next day.”
Soto currently leads the NL in on-base percentage (.408), ranks second in OPS (.947) and ranks seventh in slugging percentage (.539).
