Defensive back Christian Izien was placed on the on the Active/Non-Football Illness list and offensive guard Christian Mahogany on the Active/Non-Football Injury list (NFI).
On Wednesday, Lions head coach Dan Campbell commented on both players' statuses to start camp. Campbell also provided an update on tight end Tyler Conklin, who joined safeties Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch on the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP).
"Izzy just had a little flu bug. We're going to make sure he's good to go, hopefully by Friday we get him in practice here. Mahogany needs a couple of days and then he'll be ready. Conklin's going to probably be about two weeks here, somewhere in there. He's running. He got a little calf back in the spring. We're hopeful. No setbacks. We're trying to be smart with him. But, hopefully get him back as soon as possible so we can get some reps on him," Campbell said.

— Detroit Lions (@Lions) July 29, 2026 The Lions signed Izien this offseason to a one-year, $2 million contract. Originally an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers, Izien played in 45 games and started 15 with the Bucs over his first three NFL seasons.
Izien has recorded 165 tackles, five passes defended, three interceptions and three forced fumbles in his career thus far.
Mahogany, a 2024 sixth-round pick by the Lions from Boston College, played in and started 11 games at left guard for the Lions last season. The 6-foot-3, 330-pound lineman has played in 18 career games and started 12.
The Lions inked Conklin to a one-year, $1.3 million contract this offseason. Conklin, an eight-year NFL veteran, appeared in 13 games and started five last season for the Chargers. The 6-foot-3, 248-pound tight end has played in 127 NFL games and started 69.
Conklin caught seven passes for 101 yards last season with the Chargers. Originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings out of Central Michigan, Conklin has reeled in 270 receptions for 2,645 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Conklin's most productive season came in the 2023 season with the Jets when he caught 61 passes for 621 yards.
