On Monday, CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported that the Gators are hiring Greg McMahon as a special teams analyst. McMahon, who most recently served as the special teams coordinator at Tulane under Sumrall in 2024, has more than three decades of special teams coaching experience.
McMahon was the special teams coordinator for the New Orleans Saints from 2008-16 in addition to college stops in the same role at UNLV, Illinois, East Carolina and LSU , winning a national title with the latter. Now, after taking the 2025 season off, he's back in the SEC to assist Johnathan Galante, who replaced McMahon at Tulane and followed Sumrall to Gainesville.

Special teams proved to be an issue for Florida under the previous coaching staff, and it's clear that Sumrall is investing quite a bit into that unit heading into his first season as an SEC head coach.
