Stephen A. Smith can’t believe Stephanie White’s lack of accountability as the Indiana Fever head coach.
Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White seems to be on the hot seat due to her recent behavior surrounding the Sophie Cunningham-DiJonai Carrington controversy.
Initially, White seemingly sided with Carrington despite the Chicago Sky star committing a brutal foul on Cunningham. Evidently, the Fever fanbase was furious with their head coach.
White defended her actions by claiming she never saw a replay of the foul on Cunningham and hence, chose to believe Carrington’s actions weren’t intentional. But that explanation has only further angered WNBA analysts and fans alike.

Stephen A. Smith is stunned Indiana Fever haven’t fired Stephanie White
Keeping the events of the last few days in mind, many Fever fans have demanded White’s sacking. Now, renowned analyst Stephen A. Smith has joined the conversation, and he’s on the side of the fans.
“There are folks in Indiana at a home game booing you! You ain’t the road team. You’re the home team, you’re the home coach, and they’re booing you.
“How are you the head coach on the sideline during the play, covering the game or coaching the game, and you didn’t see the play? I’m just asking,” Smith said.
He added, “I’m not saying it’s impossible, but I’m like, what do you mean you didn’t see the play? What? You not watch it? We saw it. You’re coaching the game, up and down the court.
“It’s your job to coach the game. Watch the game. How did you not see the play?”
It’s one thing to miss the foul during regular play, but not even taking a second look during replays has completely baffled Smith.
To be fair, White’s rant about missing the foul and anger against the reaction from fans seems more of an excuse than admitting she made a mistake.
