Patriots Receiver 'Would Welcome' Trade for Contract Reasons

The Patriots have 11 wide receivers on the 90-man roster. They're expected to keep six to seven receivers at the most on the 53-man roster for the regular season.
New England traded for A.J. Brown and signed Romeo Doubs in free agency. With an upgraded receiver room, Kayshon Boutte, who had been the subject of trade rumors earlier this offseason, will face an uphill battle to receive the targets he desperately needs before becoming a free agent in 2027, even if he makes the 53-man roster.

Boutte should be one of the receivers who makes the 53-man roster. He's off to a hot start in training camp, and that might make the Patriots want to keep him this fall.
Per Mike Reiss of ESPN, Boutte would welcome a trade to the right situation in a bid to enhance his chance to earn a better contract during the next offseason.
"Another factor of note is contract status, with Boutte and (DeMario) Douglas entering the final year of their deals," Reiss wrote. "The more they produce, the more likely they receive a richer contract in 2027. Boutte noted that dynamic last week, saying he naturally wants it to be his best season, and that's why sources close to Boutte say he would welcome a trade if the right situation presented itself."
Boutte recorded 46 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns last season, his career high for touchdowns.
Boutte has tried to remain stoic amid rumblings about his future this summer.
"We all hear a lot of the stuff going on," Boutte said. "I think my main focus is that I'm here today. If I'm somewhere else next week, or the week after, that's part of the business."
Based on the start of training camp, the Patriots have no reason to trade Boutte unless they receive a deal too good to be true for the former sixth-round pick.
