Fans were left in splits after they witnessed a hilarious ‘slap’ interaction between San Francisco Giants slugger Luis Arraez and Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras on Monday night.
Facing Brewers reliever Garrett Stallings in the seventh inning, Arraez fouled off the 2-2 pitch into the dirt, which rebounded back to hit him in the face. Immediately after, Contreras came near him and showed fingers to make sure he was conscious and was able to see well. He followed with a playful slap on Arraez’s face, who replied with a tap of a bat on the Brewers catcher’s helmet.

Luis Arraez Predicted To Stay With Giants Despite Trade Rumors
The Giants are not in a strong position to make the postseason this year with a 45-61 record after Monday night’s 3-0 win against the Brewers. As a result, many are expecting them to trade three-time batting champion Luis Arraez before the trade deadline since he will become a free agent at the end of the 2026 MLB season.
On the contrary, CBS Sports analyst Mike Axisa believes Giants president of baseball operations Buster Posey might sign Arraez to a three-year extension instead.
“The Giants will extend Luis Arraez, not trade him,” Axisa said . “… I boldly predict that president of baseball operations Buster Posey will pivot and instead sign Arraez to an extension. Let’s call it three years in the $15 million-per-year range.”
Arraez has played 100 games this year, hitting .326/.362/.449 with four home runs, 41 RBIs and 25 walks. He also has nine stolen bases to his name.
It will be a surprise if Arraez doesn’t get traded because there are many teams, including the New York Yankees, who could use his services for the second half of the regular season.
