The Indianapolis Colts' initial 53-man roster is set, but next up for GM Chris Ballard is scouring the waiver wire for any potential additions.
Many of the released players from around the NFL on Sunday will be subject to waivers. If the Colts want to add one of those players to their team, they will put in a claim.
If multiple teams put in a claim, then that player goes to the team with the higher priority, which at this time of the year is determined by the original 2026 draft order before trades. The Colts currently sit at No. 16 in waiver priority.
With help from Daniel Popper's waiver wire big board over at The Athletic, and taking into account positions that the Colts could still add to, here are three potential waiver wire additions.
OT Christian Jones
Jones was a fifth-round pick by the Cardinals in 2024 and has played 74 career offensive snaps. This preseason, he graded out well as a run-blocker by PFF's metrics and gave up one sack over 163 pass-blocking reps.
What Popper had to say: "He has a feel for timing and space when matched up one-on-one with edge rushers. He has quick feet when moving laterally to mirror rushes."
What's the need for the Colts? The offensive tackle depth is very thin for Indianapolis on the 53-man roster, with Luke Tenuta being the only option off the bench.
CB Doneiko Slaughter
Dunbar went undrafted in 2025 out of Arkansas. This preseason, he was a reliable tackler and sound run defender from the cornerback position. In coverage, he allowed eight receptions on 10 targets at 9.5 yards per catch with a pass breakup. Popper believes that Slaughter can play both inside and out.
What Popper had to say: "He had a down game in Week 3 as the Steelers lost to the Bills. But there was enough on film over the first two games to show that Slaughter has the potential to land on a 53-man roster after waivers."
What's the need for the Colts? Throughout the preseason, the depth of the cornerback room was exposed.
CB Mory Bamba
Bamba went undrafted this past April out of BYU. He only played in the first preseason game, but he impressed, allowing just four receptions on 10 targets with two pass breakups.
What Popper had to say: "He is 6-foot-2 and can use that frame to play physically at the line of scrimmage in press alignments. Bamba can play inside and outside."
What's the need? In addition to the Colts' cornerback depth being in question, the team will also be without Cam Taylor-Britt in Week 1 due to a suspension.
