The Las Vegas Raiders’ position battle at the right guard slot is not yet settled. Raiders coach Klint Kubiak stated after practice on Tuesday that Jackson Powers-Johnson and Caleb Rogers are still in the running to earn the starting role with one final preseason game remaining on the schedule.
”It continues,” Kubiak said regarding the ongoing battle between the two offensive linemen. “This game will be really important for that battle. I know both of those guys are gonna play this year. We're counting on both of them, as well as a lot of other guys. So, this competition has only made them better and our team better."
Powers-Johnson allowed two sacks and 10 total pressures across eight games played last season -- seven of which he started -- and still has the chance to vie to keep the starting job that he’s occupied for the last two seasons in Las Vegas with just under three weeks remaining until the start of the 2026 NFL regular season.
Rogers, the Raiders’ No. 98 overall pick from 2025, has split first team reps with Powers-Johnson throughout training camp this summer with the first team after starting in all six games that he played for Las Vegas last season. He will get his final chance to make an impression on the Raiders’ coaching staff in the preseason in the team’s upcoming matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday.
