Rays Minor League Roundup: Week 16
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - JULY 12: Theo Gillen #14 of the Tampa Bay Rays runs to third base after hitting a RBI single in the fifth inning during the 2026 MLB All-Star Futures Game at Citizens Bank Park on July 12, 2026 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This was the 15th week of full minor league play ( stats are entering play on Tuesday, July 21st ).
According to FanGraphs ( which factors in age and proximity to the big leagues ), prospect Theo Gillen has usurped Caden Bodine to reign supreme in the system, although both prospects are among the top overall in all of minor league baseball; Gillen ranks 5th while Bodine ranks 8.
Meanwhile, Jacob Kisting still holds the top pitching spot. The Rays acquired Kisting for Eric Orze last November and the 23-year old is having a breakout campaign in High-A. Thus far he has compiled a 1.54 ERA | 2.50 FIP with a 29.6 K% & 5.4 BB% over 76 IP.
RUMBLINGS
Infielder Jadher Arienamo left a game early last weekend after a double. He appeared to tweak something on the play and would leave the game after a few more pitches were delivered.
Michael Forret was featured among Baseball America’s Statcast Standouts
Ty Johnson made his return from the Development List, and entered a game in relief with disastrous results. Johnson faced five hitters and yielded three hits, a walk, and recorded a lone out before departing. It was Johnson’s first time entering the game from the bullpen since May 13th, 2025.
Tre’ Morgan has dealt with injuries all season but has been able to find some power this year. He has already set a new career high in homeruns hit, granted five of those came in the Complex League.
Brady Marget, the Rays 16th round pick in 2024, opened the year on the IL and didn’t finish his rehab assignment until June. Since joining the River Dogs active roster, he has been their best hitter and has a 164 wRC+ over 177 PA thus far.
