Police shot a person near Times Square on Monday afternoon, according to NYPD officials.
The shooting happened at about 4:27 p.m., police said. The NYPD did not immediately provide details about what led to the shooting or the condition of the person who was shot.
The NYPD advised people to avoid West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue because of a police investigation and warned of delays in the surrounding area.
The NYPD said the incident remains under investigation.
The shooting comes about two weeks after NYPD officers fatally shot a 54-year-old man on the Lower East Side. Police said the man advanced toward officers with a butcher’s knife after they responded to reports of an assault inside a Ludlow Street building.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
