Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was placed on the seven-day injured list Saturday by the Toronto Blue Jays , one day after his head collided with the knee of New York Yankees shortstop George Lombard Jr.
Guerrero underwent concussion tests after the Blue Jays' 3-1 win on Friday, Aug. 14 in Toronto. However, they waited until a few hours before the rematch on Saturday before announcing the roster move.
Outfielder Daz Cameron, who was hitting well at Triple-A Buffalo, was selected to the Blue Jays' major league roster. To make room for him, the Blue Jays designated pitcher Lazaro Estrada for assignment.
In a separate move, the Blue Jays promoted former top-100 prospect Ricky Tiedemann, a left-handed pitcher, and optioned right-hander Chase Lee to Triple-A.
Tiedemann, a left-handed pitcher, was the Blue Jays’ No. 1 prospect as recently as 2023 . Since then, injuries derailed his trajectory. He missed time in 2024 due to bone chips in his elbow and all of 2025 following Tommy John surgery .
In three Triple-A games this season, Tiedemann allowed four runs across three innings.
“It’s big," the 23-year-old said of his first call-up. "I mean, not only for me, but for everybody that sacrificed anything for me growing up and getting me to games; my family, my parents. So it's big for all of us.”

Cameron, the son of former major league outfielder Mike Cameron, has a .200 batting average, 11 home runs, and 42 RBIs in 160 MLB games with the Detroit Tigers, Oakland A’s, and Milwaukee Brewers.
The Brewers designated Cameron for assignment in July, and he quickly signed a minor league contract with the Blue Jays. He was slashing .367/.462/.582 in 23 games with the Buffalo Bisons, Toronto's top minor league affiliate.

Guerrero was the Blue Jays' postseason hero in 2025, when they reached the World Series for the first time since 1993. The MVP of the American League Championship Series, and an All-Star for the sixth time in July, Guerrero is on pace for the lowest OPS (.693) of his career.
Now he'll have to bide his time and hope his symptoms subside quickly. Toronto (60-64) is only one game behind the Detroit Tigers (60-62) for the third and final Wild Card berth in the AL.
