A: Exactly. The degree and amount of negativity about the Heat’s offseason has been stunning, shocking and startling. The Heat landed Giannis Freakin’ Antetokounmpo. Since when does the team that lands the summer’s best acquisition (with all due respect to Jaylen Brown and LeBron James ) become classified as coming up short? To win in the NBA, you start with greatness and work from there. Giannis Antetokounmpo is never a bad place to start. So, so far a very good summer, one that the hope is will can even better from here, still almost three months out from there.

A: Let’s not do this, this notion of the Heat first have to wait to get their house in order and only then attack Year 2 with Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Heat designed their maximum extension with Bam Adebayo with this as go-time. So you don’t then add Giannis and take a step back.

A: Because the NBA can be quite influential with its signature preseason showcases, such as its Canada Games. So, yes, there would be little reason to push Giannis Antetokounmpo immediately after his first Heat training camp. On the other hand, Adam Silver and the NBA’s marketing wing can be quite convincing. Plus, don’t the Heat owe Adam a favor after he gave the Heat the Charlotte second-round pick that turned into Ryan Conwell?
