See the full story · 1 sourcesThe Washington Huskies have a lot of confidence in freshman Kodi Greene starting at left tackle heading into the 2026 season.
Since arriving at Washington, Jedd Fisch's coaching staff has put a large amount of trust in freshmen as the third-year head coach continues to build his program. Greene will be the second first-year player to start along the offensive line during Fisch's tenure, and he's learned a lot from the first, 2025 Freshman All-American left guard John Mills.
"He's passed over his mindset to me," Greene said on Saturday when asked what he's learned from Mills. "When I said earlier in the spring, I felt like I was kind of, not timid, but I didn't have the confidence. He's always been reassuring me of, 'You can do this,' like, 'You're built for this, you're built for the left tackle spot, and you're able to go dominate if you put your mind to it.'"
Now, as he continues to gain confidence playing next to Mills, Greene wants to reach the same heights that his running mate did last fall.
"He was also a Freshman All-American; I'm trying to get like that," Greene said.
As he continues to learn from Washington's veteran unit along the offensive line, Greene feels like he's made major strides in his game ahead of his first college campaign, and he continued to emphasize his mental growth.
"I feel like the biggest area of improvement is my mental ability," he added. "I feel like in the spring I wasn't as confident, and now I feel like I've got some college experience under my belt. I feel like I'm more prepared and more ready to do what I need to do."
