Heung-min Son was a top-level Premier League player before he decided to move to the MLS.
After impressing in Germany, the South Korean secured a move to Tottenham Hotspur, where he spent 10 years, scored 173 goals, and provided 101 assists.
In 2025, he moved to LAFC for what was reported as a fee in excess of £20m.
Son has, as expected, been one of the top players in the MLS over the last year, and has now revealed he never realised how big the division is and how seriously people take it.

Heung-min Son comments on how big MLS is and how seriously people take it
The MLS All-Stars game is taking place on July 29 at Bank of America Stadium, and Son is among the players in attendance.
Ahead of that clash, the former Tottenham talent has been speaking to the media and commented on the size of the MLS.
He said: “Look, before I joined, I didn’t realise the MLS, you know like, how big that is, how people are taking it seriously.
“But ever since I arrived here I see that, how much they care about this league and how much they’re passionate about it.”
Son also spoke about South Korean players in the MLS and his desire to bring more of his countrymen to the league.
Since moving to America, the 34-year-old has made 37 appearances for LAFC, in which he has scored 17 and assisted 21.
In the current MLS campaign, he has found the back of the net three times and provided 10 assists in 16 matches.
LAFC are currently second in the Western Conference, only behind Vancouver Whitecaps on goal difference.
However, the Whitecaps have played two matches fewer than Son’s team at present, meaning they could earn a six-point lead if they win both their games in hand.
