Jacob Hester and Pat Kirwan featured Detroit in SiriusXM's NFL training camp tour on their show "Movin' the Chains" on Wednesday. Lions general manager Brad Holmes swung by for an interview.
Hester asked Holmes where negotiations stand with Gibbs and how the Lions feel about creating a new one-two punch in their backfield with Gibbs and free agency signing Isiah Pacheco .

I just think that that's kind of how this league is going now. But, you know, we're having dialogue. We'll see where it goes," Holmes said.
When he's been asked about Gibbs' ongoing contract negotiations throughout camp, Lions head coach Dan Campbell has remained upbeat that a deal will get done.
"You guys know how I feel, how we feel about Gibbs and what the team feels about him... It'll get done. It's going to get done. I'm not even sweating it," Campbell said on July 30.
As the Lions' first preseason games and as the 2026 season creeps closer, there's a growing urgency to get a deal done and to get Gibbs back onto the field and practicing.
Gibbs holds the NFL record for most touchdowns scored in a player's first three seasons with 49. The 5-foot-9, 202-pound back has registered consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons and has run for 3,580 yards in his first three NFL seasons. Gibbs has added an additional 1,449 receiving yards.
