“He did some nice things,” DeBoer said. “It’s good to see him out there flying around. A couple times, you see what you saw from his high school highlight film, so excited to see him. We’re not in pads right now, so a lot of that is yet to be seen, but just execution, he’s got to catch the ball well. I think he’s got a really good head on his shoulders from what we’ve seen so far, and being able to be consistent that way, learn the offense. When he gets in there in rotation with the running backs, like he was today, he did his job.”
Crowell joins the Crimson Tide this fall with a significant amount of hype surrounding him, adding a five-star talent to an Alabama running back room which struggled last fall. The former in-state standout was Alabama's top rated player in their 2026 recruiting class, ranking No. 15 nationally per the 247Sports Composite rankings , as well as the No. 2 running back in the nation.
Alabama is set to open the 2026 season at home Saturday, Sept. 5, against East Carolina. Crowell is expected to be among Alabama's most impactful true freshmen.
