Of course, James had seriously considered retirement after his eighth season with the Los Angeles Lakers , but is now looking to help the Sixers move forward.
James has, obviously, had a legendary career. He is a 22-time All-Star, 4-time MVP, 4-time finals MVP and champion, and has a number of other incredible awards, moments, and feats. Therefore, if this is truly it, he wants to document it. Maybe even turn it into a "Last Dance" type of documentary a la Michael Jordan's last season with the Chicago Bulls.
Per The Athletic, James and his team are close to getting it done with ESPN.

The Sixers have not been past Round 2 since 2001 and have not won a title since 1983. With James on the floor, Philadelphia will have an excellent chance at doing so in order to get it done this upcoming season.
