Some MLB owners reportedly expect a lockout to cancel the entire 2027 season

With Major League Baseball heading towards the trade deadline next week, teams are actually weighing more than just the needs for this season. They're also taking an impending work stoppage into account.

It could go on for longer than fans would like.

With baseball's CBA set to expire on Dec. 1, everyone around the game expects there to be a lockout in 2027. At least publicly, the owners and players are extremely far apart on key issues. The main point of contention is looking to be the owners' desire to implement a salary cap in 2027 .
