Trey Yesavage’s 2026 season will go down as one of the few bright spots for the Toronto Blue Jays. The 23-year-old right-hander was their best starting pitcher not named Dylan Cease.
Before Yeavage was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left knee injury , he went 5-5 with a 3.65 ERA (122 ERA+) in 18 starts. His win total suppressed by the Blue Jays’ sputtering offense, but his future as a front-line starter in MLB was not.

It might be too soon to speak of Yesavage’s season in the past tense. On the day he underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus, Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Yesavage still might pitch again this season.
In 2025, Yesavage rose from Class-A Dunedin to the big leagues, turning in an impressive postseason (3-1, 3.58 ERA in six appearances) as the Blue Jays took the Los Angeles Dodgers to Game 7 of last year’s World Series.

In his first full big league season, Yesavage picked up where he left off — at least until he was forced to come out of his start against the Houston Astros on Tuesday, Aug. 4, while experiencing discomfort warming up.
The Blue Jays have no incentive to get Yesavage back anytime soon. Through Aug. 10, they’re 57-63, the fifth-place team in the five-team American League East.
While the Blue Jays are only 3.5 games out of a Wild Card berth in the weak AL, their hopes for another deep postseason run have been dimmed by a litany of injuries.

The Blue Jays placed right-handed starter Jameson Taillon on the injured list earlier in the day with right forearm discomfort and recalled pitcher Chase Lee from Triple-A Buffalo.
Taillon was acquired from the Chicago Cubs to provide rotation depth only last week. Instead, he joins Yesavage, Spencer Arighetti, José Berríos, Cody Ponce and Bowden Francis on an injured list that would make a competent rotation if healthy.
