Emmanuel Acho has established himself as a prominent voice in sports media. After his NFL playing career, his shift to the media sphere has been seamless, but he continues to have some major detractors.
Recently, two-time Super Bowl champion cornerback Asante Samuel has been one of his loudest critics. After repeatedly going after the former linebacker, Acho finally dropped a two-word reply for Samual.

After Ryan Clark’s firing from ESPN, Acho expressed a ton of sympathy for the former Pittsburgh Steelers safety. But Samuel wasn’t impressed by Acho’s reaction to the news. Instead, he repeatedly went after Acho on X .
Samuel referred to Acho as “a sensitive dude” who needs “fame and attention to feel accepted,” said he’s a scammer, and mocked him for inheriting his show’s social-media accounts from Fox Sports (it was previously the channel for Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless’ show “Undisputed.”) He sent out 11 posts about Acho in recent days.
After a certain point, Acho had had enough. He posted a meme of Samuel holding a picture of Acho with the word “Obsession” in the background alongside the caption, “Get help.”
To drive home the point, he added a second post that contained screenshots of Samuel’s posts about him.
The four-time Pro Bowler responded to Acho, first with clown emojis and then by calling him “the only mistake in Howie’s career,” referring to Eagles GM Howie Roseman, whom they both played for in Philadelphia.

Nonetheless, Acho’s resume speaks for itself as an analyst. A sixth-round pick for the Cleveland Browns in 2012, Acho had a four-year career in the NFL. He spent three of those seasons with the Eagles. Then, his media journey began with ESPN before he transitioned to Fox Sports in June 2020. His work drew attention and acclaim, even earning him a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality/Emerging On-Air Talent in 2021.
His success as a broadcaster wasn’t just limited to sports. In September of the same year, he also earned a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series for the digital series he created, “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man.”
Spending another three years with the network, he became the lead anchor of “SPEAK” and was also named the co-host of “The Facility.” But after the show was cancelled in July 2025, he started his own show called “Speakeasy.”
While Acho has had plenty of success, he has rubbed some people the wrong way with his defense of Clark, including Samuel. It remains to be seen if this beef will continue or if the two former Eagles will move on.
