As the Los Angeles Rams await word from Aaron Donald on whether he'll be returning to the football field after two years away, the team won't be putting extra pressure on the three-time defensive player of the year to make a decision before he's ready.
Though Rams head coach Sean McVay said Saturday he's "hopeful that it will be sooner than later," via the Los Angeles Times , he added there's no "invisible deadline" that exists for Donald to decide.

In other words, Donald can take as long as he needs to determine whether he's mentally and physically prepared to come out of retirement and be something close to the all-pro player he used to be. ProFootballTalk reported that Donald had a target of early last week that shifted to late last week to make his decision, which he missed. If true, those were apparently personal deadlines and not ones set by the team based on what McVay said.

Donald's return remains uncertain. If he does come back, it'll be with the Rams, who he spent his entire 10-year career with. Donald still had one year remaining on his deal with the team when he retired after the 2023 season.
The Rams' offseason trade for Myles Garrett sparked initial rumors of Donald's potential return. Now, he's working out and taking time to determine if he wants to come back at 35 years old.
