Juventus have reportedly made enquiries over Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes as the Serie A club assess options to strengthen Luciano Spalletti’s squad before the new season.
According to CaughtOffside , the Italian giants have held discussions with the Portugal international’s representatives as they explore the possibility of bringing the 31-year-old back to Serie A. Fernandes previously played in Italy with Novara, Udinese and Sampdoria before establishing himself in Portugal and later earning a move to the Premier League.
Despite Juventus’ interest, a transfer currently appears difficult to complete. Fernandes is entering the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, although Manchester United hold an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months. The report also states that negotiations over a new long-term contract are progressing positively, with the club optimistic their captain will remain in Manchester.

Juventus are understood to view Fernandes as an ideal addition because of his creativity, leadership and experience at the highest level. Sporting director Frederic Massara is said to have included the midfielder among several attacking options under consideration as Spalletti looks to reshape his squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Any move would present significant financial challenges. CaughtOffside reports that Manchester United could seek between €50 million and €75 million if they were forced to consider a sale, while Fernandes’ salary would also represent a major obstacle for the Turin club. The report adds that discussions over an improved contract could see the midfielder become United’s highest-paid player.
Fernandes has remained one of United’s most influential performers since joining from Sporting CP in January 2020, establishing himself as captain and a key creative force in midfield. Losing the Portugal international would represent a major setback as Michael Carrick prepares for his first full season in charge.
For now, Juventus’ interest appears to be at an exploratory stage. While contact with the player’s camp has reportedly taken place, there is no indication that formal negotiations between the clubs have begun, and the strongest expectation remains that Fernandes will extend his stay at Old Trafford.
