Former Lady Vol Rae Burrell started and led all scorers. She scored a career-high 28 points for the Sparks, converting 10-of-19 field goal attempts, 5-of-10 three-point attempts and 3-of-5 free throw attempts. Burrell scored 20 points in the fourth quarter.
She also recorded three rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in 33 minutes.
Sabrina Ionescu led the Liberty in scoring with 20 points. New York center Jonquel Jones recorded 18 rebounds against Los Angeles.
The Liberty led 92% of the game and their largest lead was 28 points. Los Angeles' largest lead was four points.
New York outrebounded the Sparks, 41-36, while scoring 50 points in the paint. Los Angeles scored 36 points in the paint.
Burrell played at Tennessee from 2018-22 and was selected by Los Angeles in the first round of the 2022 WNBA draft (No. 9 overall).
