What time does Indiana football play North Texas?
Indiana opens the 2026 season at noon ET on Saturday, Sept. 5 against North Texas. As the featured matchup on Fox, the Hoosiers will welcome Big Noon Kickoff to campus. The network's weekly pregame show featuring Urban Meyer, Mark Ingram, Brady Quinn and Matt Leinart will broadcast from the South Lawn in front of Memorial Stadium.

How will Indiana QB Josh Hoover perform in his Hoosiers debut? Hoover took a winding road to Bloomington as a one-time commit in the program's 2022 signing class. The TCU transfer ended up succeeding Fernando Mendoza instead. Hoover, the most productive returning quarterback in the FBS, is ready to take on the challenging assignment.
Who won IU football's remaining position battles? The Hoosiers exited fall camp with A.J. Harris battling Ryland Gandy for the No. 2 corner spot, a handful of young tight ends — Andrew Barker, Brock Schott and Trevor Gibbs — competing for playing time and open third linebacker spot. Indiana will offer an answer to those remaining question marks come Saturday.
Former Indiana QB Tayven Jackson returns home. Jackson, a Center Grove alum, made six career starts for the Hoosiers from 2023-24. The well-traveled quarterback — North Texas is his fourth school — won the starting job in fall camp and will get a chance to take on his former teammates. “He has a presence to him,” North Texas coach Neal Brown said during fall camp . “The thing too is he’s been through some adversity at Indiana and UCF. What that does is it gives you some resiliency."
