See the full story · 1 sourcesDonald Trump said he decided to pause US strikes on Iran on Friday after countries mediating between Washington and Tehran asked him to give diplomacy another chance.
“All of the people that deal with Iran asked me: ‘Don’t fire,’” he said.
“Nothing gained, nothing lost,” Trump said of the pause.
Iran has also halted its attacks, marking a third straight day without exchanges of fire after nearly two weeks of daily strikes between the two sides.
Tehran, however, has denied that any direct negotiations are taking place with the US despite Trump’s comments that “friendly” talks are under way.
