So what is the Ledger, actually?
Here is the whole thing, explained the way you would explain it to a friend. And further down, you can test it on real stories from today — live, right now.
The short version
When something big happens, a bunch of different news sites all write their own version of it. Same event, twelve different articles.
The Ledger collects all of those, notices they are talking about the same thing, and stacks them into one entry per event. So instead of scrolling past twelve takes on the same story, you see one entry with the receipts: who covered it, who published first, and what every outlet said in common.
That is it. It is a running record of what the world’s newsrooms are reporting — kept in one tidy book.
How it works, step by step
Three steps, no magic.

We collect
All day, every day, we pull in fresh headlines from hundreds of real news outlets around the world.

We match
Our system compares the actual words in each article. When different outlets are clearly describing the same event, they get grouped together. It is pure text matching — no opinions, no AI deciding what “counts.”

We stack
Each group becomes one entry in the ledger. The more independent newsrooms in the stack, the more solid the story. One lone report? You will see that too — clearly marked as just one report.
Every number you see is just a count
Nothing on this site is a score, a rating, or a verdict.
When an entry says “7 newsrooms covered this,” that means exactly seven outlets published their own article about it. Not “this is 7/10 true.” Just seven.
When it says a point “appears in 4 write-ups,” that means four separate articles contained matching text. We counted. That is the entire trick.
Whether a story is true is your call to make — we just make it easy to see how many independent newsrooms are saying the same thing.
Four things we will never do
We never write the news
Not a single headline or sentence on this site was made up by us or by AI. Everything you read came from a real newsroom. We just organise it.
We never copy articles
We do not repost anyone’s work. We show you what exists and link you straight to the outlet that wrote it. They get the click, not us.
We never grade anyone
No "trusted" stamps, no "biased" warnings, no left-or-right labels. We do not tell you who to believe. We show you the counts and you decide.
We never quietly rewrite history
Once a story lands in the ledger, it stays. It can grow as more outlets pick it up, but we do not delete entries or swap them out behind your back.
Do not take our word for it — test it
