The New York Yankees added two new players to their lineup at the trade deadline.
First baseman Luis Garcia Jr. and outfielder Heliot Ramos should help New York's offense while Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Giancarlo Stanton are injured.
"One of our first areas of need was to try to upgrade the offense in any way, shape or form while waiting for important players to come back off the IL," general manager Brian Cashman told reporters. "Ramos crushes left-handed pitching, García crushes right-handed pitching ... [manager] Aaron Boone has a better chance to match up than he did yesterday."
What Cashman said about the Yankees' new acquisitions is accurate. Manager Aaron Boone's lineup is much better with those two players.
But Cashman failed to address the roster's two most glaring needs: Catcher and bullpen help.
ESPN's David Schoenfield gave the Yankees the "We Made the Team Better, but the Fans are Still Upset Award" following the deadline.
"Well done, Cashman.Or not. Because, you see, Yankees fans wanted a catcher at the deadline, as if the franchise could simply snap its fingers and acquire Yogi Berra, Thurman Munson or Jorge Posada," Schoenfield wrote. "Then again, let's be nice here and cut Yankees fans some slack: It has been 17 years since they've won a World Series."

Dozens of relievers were traded at the deadline, but the Yankees managed to acquire none of them despite having a taxed bullpen.
And now, Austin Wells and Ali Sanchez will be starting postseason games behind the plate. The fans seem to believe this is a mistake.
Apparently, Cashman disagrees.
