The season-opener for Alabama State football is behind the Hornets and they'll start the season 1-0 after finding a new gear in the second half against Southern in the Birmingham Classic.
It wasn't the best showing by Alabama State in the first half against Marshall Faulk's squad, but the Hornets showed what they're capable when they scored 17 unanswered points in the second half.
Now Alabama State will welcome Division II opponent Lane College in its home opener. The Hornets will most likely look to clean things up before taking the short trip to their FBS opponent Troy in Week 2.
